Clubbersguide: First of all, how did you meet and how did you decide to get together and make music?

TFANDMS: First thanks to Clubbersguide's invitation for making an interview with us, we are always open for work with web portals like this one!
Let's get back to the main question - it was really a magic moment - both had a tune named the same: The Flyers - Luna and Mike Sonar - Luna. The way we started to work together was really simple: Mike received a message from PiLoT on his myspace and that's how they met each other, then we had a small talk and after noticing that we work on a same level, we became not only business partners, but also really good friends.

Clubbersguide: How would all of you describe your own country's electronic scene? Would you change anything about it? What are the upsides and the downsides of each?

Michal: Poland seems to be mostly known from Nitrous Oxide, Adam Nickey, Adam Kancerski and also Mike Sonar- all of them produce a quite similar uplifting style of trance, which seems to dominate electronic music stage in this country.Trance is still a fresh kind of style, but it's growing all the time, unfortunately there are still only several big electronic music parties every year there.

Linar: In Moscow and St.Petersburg EDM scene is very diverse. Often big festivals are held featuring the stars of electronic music scene. But in other regions people are very susceptible to radio and they see exactly the commercial "fast food" house sounds on the radio and because of this it penetrates into the clubs, because people like the sound on the radio and they have not heard really progressive high-quality music.

Aleksandar PiLoT: Electronic Music scene in my country looks like a man with broken hands and legs, who is trying to be normal and to keep himself strong. There are not many people who really know how to feel the soul and magic of this music, we can count them on one hand. But I really hope one day the real age of EDM will come here

Clubbersguide: Before you started working together with Mike Sonar, you both (Pilot & Linar) had released a track named Luna. Was that a coincidence?

TFANDMS: Absolutely a coincidence. Who knows, maybe it was fate?

Clubbersguide: Did you ever expect to be signed by a major label like Armada Music when you started working together? Tell us more about how it happened and what was your reaction to that?

TFANDMS: We only knew this is going to be a successful project, but we didn't expect to get a major label like Armada so fast. We have been really happy to hear an answer from Andy Moor - a big DJ and main face of Ava Recordings - that the demo was accepted. Impossible to forget that feeling, when one of your dreams comes true. Also with just one tune in Armada called "The Flyers & Mike Sonar - Everytime I Close My Eyes" we ended up in many compilations like "Magic Island vol.3", "Armada Ibiza Essentials 2010", "Trance Top 100 vol.8", "I love House Vol.12" and many more.

Clubbersguide: How do you describe the music that you're bringing out right now and where do you look for inspiration?

TFANDMS: We are currently trying to produce many styles of trance, ranging from 130-140bpm, but most of our tracks could be described as happy and uplifting. Usually the inspiration comes from nowhere. It just appears when we sit together in our studios and start doing some melodies. There is a one big brain storm, which usually ends with a last compromise and here is a new born child from us.

Clubbersguide: What producers/labels do you like these days and why?

Aleksandar PiLoT: Hard to say which producers are my fav. but let's list some of them:
I am in love with everything made by Maor Levi (123XYZ), Mat Zo, Above & Beyond, Kyau & Albert, Jaytech, Eric Prydz (Pryda, Cirez D) and the newcomer Arty. The label list looks like this: surely Armada as we are part of that label, Anjunabeats/Anjunadeep, Euphonic, Flashover Recordings and plus a few others. And to explain why them: They sound unique. I don't need to see the artist name when I'm listening to the track, my ears automaticly can recognize their trademark sound.

Michal: Maor Levi, Andy Moor, Arty and Mat Zo - everyone knows their unique and modern sounding tracks. But I also like to chill out with some artists from different scene then electronic music. Really love relaxing with listening to Rumer, Pink Floyd...

Linar: My few favourite labels are Armada, Enhanced, Infrasonic, Euphonic, Anjunabeats, High Contrast. My fav Producers?? Mmm I like everyone who wrote interesting high-quality music. Also my pleasure is to listen to the music in other styles not always from the EDM (electronic dance music).

Clubbersguide: What piece of kit can you not live without?

Linar: Friends, Party, Clubs and sure, music

Michal: FL studio is my fav. piece of kit which makes me feel productive and fulfilled.

Aleksandar PiLoT: Hmmm great question, to be honest my CDJ's and surely computer with amazing internet speed on it

Clubbersguide: What do you find more chalenging - recording your own tracks, or remixing tracks from other producers?

TFANDMS: Recording your own tracks is sometimes harder, as you need to focus on pure musical aspect of composing a song, which must sound original, touching and keep the harmony on a top shelf. Remixing is usually easier, as your remix pack contains some basis for the tune, like some notes, chords. It means that some work is already done for you. But remixing still isn't easy - you need to remake the track in your own original style, but it still must be similar for a listener to the basic version, as your work is called 'remixing'.

Clubbersguide: Which was the first track you ever made?

Michal: When I was a teenager, in the very beginning of my production career, I made a few similar sounding track and announced them on tranceaddict.com and myspace. Fortunately I don't remember my first artist name and names of these tracks. There was a lot of critical feedback. Now I am thankful for those people, who made myself feel really woeful and disappointed that time. It was always motivating.

Linar: Hehe it was in 2003 and the project called Techno. But first release was The Flyers - Luna.

Aleksandar PiLoT: When I was 12 years old, I made tune called "Infernal shock", funny name, sounds like pokemon battle. But the first official release was at 2008 - "The Flyers - Luna"

Clubbersguide: When you're in the studio do you try to create the 'perfect' track?

Aleksandar PiLoT: - Usually one project till the final one can contains like 7-8 reworks till we got the "PERFECT" track! It also means that we really try to make the track perfect.
Linar: Yes, we always need to care about the quality. It's the most important thing.
Michal: As long as producing a good track gives me such a magic feeling, I feel it is perfect. But I am aware that there is no perfect track.

Clubbersguide: What kind of equipment do you use when you're making music?

Quad Core with Creative sound blaster x-fi soundcard.
MIDI KEYBOARD: Behringer u-control umx61
Heapdhones: sennheiser hd-25
Microphone: AKG perception 120 usb
Amplifier: marantz SE pm-54
Electric guitar + few other things like VST plugin

Clubbersguide: What is the secret of your success?

Michal: To be aware that failure is always before the success. I always was.
Linar: Work, really hard work.
Aleksandar PiLoT: Persistence is always No.1, after every fall, you have to stand up again and just continue!

Clubbersguide: What do you think about music sharing over the internet? Does that globally ruin the music industry?

Aleksandar PiLoT: We all know that piracy is killing the music industry, also breaking the copyrights became the usual thing in this new age with using the internet & sharing tunes without having rights to them. Some producers already started a joke which looks like: New tune released on Zippyshare, Rapidshare, Hotfile and etc.

Clubbersguide: What are your plans for the future?

Aleksandar PiLoT: If I reveal the things, it won't be really surprising for you when the real time comes. let's wait "TIME WILL TELL"
Linar: To work more than now.
Michal: Keep my name in front of big labels releases, find a good promoter and make a few dj tours.

Clubbersguide: What do you do to relax? Any hobbies besides music?

Linar: Watching movies, playing pc games, meeting with friends, going to a night club, billiards, bowling, cafe & etc.

Clubbersguide: Tell us an unknown fact about yourself?

Linar: I'm crazy. Just a joke Don't take this seriosly
Aleksandar PiLoT: I can make sounds with my mouth like AK-47, Dog, Cat, Formula and etc

**** Extra questions asked on FaceBook *****

When we'll have the opportunity to see Flyers & Mike Sonar @ Skopje?

TFANDMS: No gigs are planned at the moment, but surely it's a matter of time.

Any comment on being a producer with a musical education background or being a producer of only knowing the software and using your imagination ?

TFANDMS: We don't have any musical education background, but in the beginnings of your carrier you can quickly learn some basics with every new track you produce. It's definitely much better if you have some experience and knowledge about music from theoretical and technical side, it's easier to solve some problems with harmony or deal with mastering issues, but it is not necessary to start playing around with composing songs.
